A Cold Day in Hell
The Crematorium is the place where the dead are incinerated. Greenville is a very wet place, it rains there constantly and floods a great deal as well. They discovered long ago that burying the dead around there was just a foolish idea. When it got super wet again, bodies would start flowing down the rivers or just eroding to the surface. The final decision was to use a crematorium, that way people could be laid to rest without worry of becoming undead. It smells bad and it’s somewhat of an ugly concept, but it works and it’s not horribly expensive. Some of the richer folk have bodies shipped somewhere to be buried; the crematorium is more for the poor of the town.
The ashes are not given away (unless paid to do so), they are instead spread in a spot nearby. It’s either that or you pay for a memorial stone in a small park north of town, then they will spread the ashes in the small spot your memorial is set upon. In essence, it’s the town’s graveyard.
